Well, Stonewall Jackson is in the news this morning. When my alarm radio woke me up, the radio DJ’s were reading the Associated Press story, which doesn’t give a whole lot of details. My first though was…did they uncover some secret about Stonewall Jackson that was hidden during the Civil War in the 1800′s??
Anything, thanks to some searches I realized a few things:
1) This was NOT about the Civil War general, Stonewall Jackson.
2) It was NOT about the boys’ varsity basketball coaching job at Stonewall Jackson High School being open
3) This was about the country music stalwart Stonewall Jackson (who actually is actually related to the original Stonewall). Jackson believes that Grand Ole Opry management (Gaylord Entertainment) was sidelining him in favor of younger artists. Stonewall filed in 2006, and a judge finally allowed him to proceed.
Heck, I was born and raised a Northerner in the 1970′s and 80′s, so I truthfully never really dug country music. So I never knew there was another Stonewall running around who had a famous song in 1959. Sue me.
