Pirates of Aden Current Total Hostages

The mainstream U.S. MEDIA will no longer report it, but the DailySkew will.

The Somalian pirates are still active. The only “good” news is that NATO has agreed to extend its short term missions for a while.

While they figure it out, the current totals are:

  • 14 ships being held in the Indian Ocean or Gulf of Aden or the Somalian cost
  • 200+ crewmen stuck there until their home country or boss pays a million dollars or more
  • 44 successful sea-jackings this year
  • 49 captured ships last year
  • 126 attacks in 2009

MEANWHILE, Abdiwali Abdiqadir Muse, the sole survivor of the U.S. and pirate shootout, had lied about his age when captured by the U.S. He went from being 15 to 16 to 19 to 26 and then back to 18.

His mother said:

“I appeal to President Obama to pardon my teenager; I request him to release my son or at least allow me to see him and be with him during the trial.”

His father said:

“He just went with them without knowing what he was getting into.”

Insert Damian’s RANT:

Because he is “scrawny” and a “teen” and the product of an 3rd world black country, I’m sure he will get a lot of sympathy from certain groups in the U.S.

Take a look how the AP described him when he arrived in New York for his hearing:

“The 5-foot-2 Muse looked bewildered and so scrawny that his prison clothes were several sizes too big. He had a frayed white bandage where he was stabbed.”

And here’s the ultra-left wing excuse for everything in the fu$@$%@ up world:

“Abdiwali Abdiqadir Muse grew up destitute in Somalia, the oldest of 12 children and the product of a violent, lawless nation where his parents scraped together a few dollars a day selling milk and tending to a small herd of camels, cows and goats.”

The first time I had my bag of lunch stolen in Junior High School in New York from my gym locker, my grandmother told me, “Maybe they were hungry and didn’t have a family to make them lunch.” There is some wisdom in her words, but they are illogical and excuse criminal and immoral behavior in society.

Side notes: my gym coach gave me 3 bucks for hot lunch. I wound up getting a mediocre grade in gym because I was with a bunch of hoodlums who threatened me all the time when I messed up a volleyball service and missed soccer kicks. I’m sure they all had Abdiwali Abdiqadir Muse excuses in life for being like that.

Buddhist thoughts: I’m ignorant and too attached to my illusion of self. I should let people steal my lunch and pirates run free. After all what is materialism? My grandmother was right.

More pirate hijackings and hostages

In the last 24 hours, Somalian pirates have hijacked four vessels: a Greek ship subcontracted to a Filipino crew, two Egyptian fishing boats, and one Lebanon vessel. According to the International Maritime Bureau, 200+ people were already still being held hostage. By the way, the actual pirates are lackeys who don’t get any of the money; they are unskilled workers. They follow orders from their leaders who are in Somalia.

Here are some possible solutions the Obama administration should consider:

1) The U.S. must take initiative and spearhead an international coalition, and share patrol duty, spy intelligence, and technology.
2) International law must be amended to allow commercial vessels to arm themselves with cannons and machine guns when traveling near Aden and the African coast.
3) Multi-national special operation forces need to be sent in and rescue the hostages, who are being held in their own boats in a port.
4) After the hostages are freed, the coast and ports of Somalia need to be bombed by sea and air. Crippling pirate and warlord strongholds in the mainland through mercenaries and saboteurs is an option.
5) The international coalition will assist with food, medicine, and money for the people of Somalia.
6) I don’t believe Somalia can ever become a free democracy, so policing or rebuilding it is out of the question. Somalia is a lost cause- it is done. Repeat-it is survival of the fittest there, and only the warlords and criminals are fit, and backing a people’s government (or picking a warlord to support) is a waste of time because of the lawlessness and corruption.

Goal #1 Free hostages through force, not payouts.
Goal #2 Cripple pirates so they would have to rebuild.
Goal #3 Patrol and have a permanent presence in the waters.
Goal #4 Help Somalians via food and supplies.
Goal #5 No urban or ground warfare, no forced democracy, or “U.N. Peacekeepers”.

The excuse that “it costs money” doesn’t hold any weight in this era of bailouts and printing money. The excuse, “Why does the US have to do it…what about the other countries?” Well, that is why my step #1 is to have a summit with the other countries and form a coalition. The U.S. will not be alone in this.

With the Navy captain freed, U.S. interest in the Pirates of Aden will decrease every day; 4 ships hijacked means nothing to an average American because they value their own blood more than someone who happened to be born in another arbitrary named landmass.
