What Has Obama Done for Black Americans?

What has President Obama actually done for Black Americans? I think Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr, W.E.B. Du Bois, Booker T Washington, and other famous black leaders are turning in their graves. I also think the reality hasn’t hit (or perhaps they don’t truly care about the plight of black Americans) for Colin Powell, Jesse Jackson, and Louis Farrakhan. Even the Don King of civil rights, Al Sharpton, has taken Obama’s side, and has not encouraged blacks to openly complain in public or attack Obama’s economic policies.

It seems as if blacks are OK with the moral victory of having a the symbol of a “Black President” over demanding or expecting true change.

• Ghettos in American cities are predominately black. The infrastructure is horrible. Go outside to any of the so-called “bad neighborhoods” of our cities. Some superpower we are, huh?
• There is still a disproportionate number of blacks in prison.
• The percentage of blacks in college is low. Even the ones that graduate and twice as likely not to get a job.
• Black unemployment is double that of white unemployment.

Does Obama care about black people or does he just care about their votes for the Democratic party? Seems like the only time he speaks to blacks is when he needs more votes or their donations.

What if Malcolm X was president? What he allow the status quo in this giant bureaucracy or would be force change by any means necessary?

The fact is that Obama is merely a politician from Chicago that happens to be of mixed race. He is certainly not an African-American like MLK or Malcolm X because he is the ultimate outsider who identifies with everyone (except evil rich people and hate mongering conservatives) and no one at the same time.

All of the neo-cons were concerned that Obama would cut checks for blacks or enforce old affirmative action laws or something to benefit the black people because Obama went to a black nationalist church and was into the Black Panthers when he was young. “White Wing Radio” was wrong again. Turns out Obama hasn’t done anything for the black people. He certainly doesn’t teach blacks about self-reliance and responsibility, and has done nothing to advance civil rights, social equality, or creating jobs.

I understand that it is almost impossible for a president to reform the system, but Obama’s Utopia Project simply makes everyone poor and reliant on a government that can’t handle so many people asking for help. If you think it’s hard to get personalized or proper medical treatment with your private doctor, think about the office once Obamacare gets rolling.

The sad fact is that due to the vast bureaucracy and the way our democracy/republic is set up, the military can burn billions on war games, the government can award high bids to companies for hundreds of millions of dollars to make screws, yet the feds can’t get untie the purse strings with cleaning up ghettos or enhancing the education system. Our government can’t think outside the box with job creation like FDR did during the Depression. Neo-cons think private businesses are the only solution (as long as they are not taxed), and social matters such as the black American male being an endangered species is an illusion.

Again, I’m not asking for handouts. Some poor people are so desperate right now, that’s what they want, but that’s not a long-term solution. I would still take a check, though. But the system needs to be rebuilt from the ground up to take care of many other problems, including the mental health care system, the credit card system, a legit health reform package, social security, tax reform, a fair mortgage system, public education reform, fixing the legal and prison system, and much more. The main key would be to get money and real benefits to the citizens as opposed to the military industrial complex and the higher ups. It’s about getting the money to the right places and restructuring  the system- not working within the corrupt and bureaucratic system. This is not about State Rights vs Federal Rights. Those who defend such arguments are supporting inequality and injustice.

As the ultimate role model and symbol for black Americans, Obama should do more than talk the talk.

Obama made history, and his black followers seem content with that victory. Years from now, it will be the same. The status quo will remain because it benefits those on top.

Black leaders have been hustling black people as rubes since they sold them as slaves hundreds of years ago, and the tradition continues today. Even with a “black president”, the black voice is not heard.
