Incredible Hulk 606 Review: Dr DOOM vs Hulk, She-Hulk Dead?
Incredible Hulk 606 review:
- Bruce Banner is a bad dad, and a bad role model for Skaar.
- Bruce Banner is obsessed with finding Betty Ross Banner- at any cost.
- Bruce Banner and Red Hulk have an uneasy alliance.
- A Green Hulk invades Dr. Doom’s castle. This battle is EPIC, and results in Dr. Doom victorious because he absorbed his power. As he is about to kill the Green Hulk, Skaar attacks him from behind and Doom has another EPIC fight. Doom uses his sorcery and science to defeat Skaar, and reveals that the Green Hulk was the robot created by the Eternals and fueled with the Power Cosmic from Galactus. He then uses his magic to transform Skaar into his child self. As he goes for the killing blow with Skaar’s own sword, Bruce Banner appears and they have the third EPIC battle in this comic book. Banner knows that the robot Hulk had a DUMB RAY in it planted by The Leader from the Intellegencia. Without Doom’s intelligence he can’t cast any spells, and Banner, armed with Bannertech, can’t be stopped. The robot Hulk wakes up, beats up Doom, and takes him away.
- Skaar (as his little boy self) reveals that although he hates his monster alter-ego, he hates Banner more for being so manipulative and selfish because he has maniplauted everyone to find Betty.
INCREDIBLE HULK 606 backup story: From the files of The Leader of the Intelligencia…M.O.D.O.K. and The Leader watch video of their creation, Red She-Hulk, battling the original She Hulk, whom A.I.M has imprisoned. They study Red She-Hulk’s psychological profile (seems like she is Betty Ross’s alter ego). The end of the video (which is months ago) shows why She-Hulk has gone missing- Red She-Hulk broke her neck, and she looks dead.
The Good
- Paul Pelletier on all cylinders- wow. The battle scenes were truly INCREDIBLE.
- Relationship between Bruce Banner and Skaar is really on the rocks- character advancement, what a concept.
- Dr. Doom’s power levels were out of this world…and I loved it.
- Here’s something for comic book fanboys to chew on for the next 10 years: Banner said Doom is one of eight of the world’s smartest people.
The Bad
- Editors don’t tell you which Hulk comic to read first this month: IH606 or Hulk 19. I, of course, read the wrong one first (Hulk 19).
- Since Rulk and Banner have their own secret plan, and the Intelligencia have their own plan, I guess both paths converged in Latveria, but that was a bit confusing.
Conclusion: Great comic in the Fall of Hulks storyline. Buy Incredible Hulk 606.
