Is Windows 7 bad or good? RANT

I don’t know about you, but for once I agree with Mac in the Mac vs PC commercials- I’m not buying or upgrading to Windows 7. I have no desire to. Windows Vista will go down in history as a folly no matter how well it was patched up months after Vista launch day.
But guess what? Windows 7 already made millions, it’s on top of the search engines, the marketing campaign already worked no matter how LOUD the Linux community is and no matter how LOUD the Mac community is.
If you are a hardcore internet surfer or Linux dude or Mac chick, you may no believe me, but Windows 7 is here to stay, Windows 7 is selling like hotcakes, and Microsoft can never be defeated no matter if Windows 7 is bad or not.
My first exposure to Windows 7 occured when Microsoft was allowing people to download beta versions of Windows 7 for free. Their servers crashed because of the interest. Of course, intial results filted through- people had crashing issues and some lost their hard drives.
According to Windows 7 reviews, PC veterans such as myself enjoy the Mac-like interface. I’m a Mac virgin, so I can understand their reaction to engage in something that feels new. Others report that it is faster than Vista, which doesn’t say a whole lot. The complaint department is full, of course. No matter what the Windows 7 commercials say, programs do freeze, Windows 7 sleep mode still sucks, and there are around 200 issues people have with it.
I’ve already exhausted the PC vs Mac vs Linux argument in the past- DO WHAT YOU WANT, I won’t stop you-but the bottom line is that Microsoft’s marketing campaign rubs me the wrong way, and Mac’s marketing campaign has already rubbed me the wrong way, and Linux can never be marketed to the general public as long as you have to use the command line and self-install drivers.
Each community turns me off. I dislike the PC/Mac/Linux apologists and defenders. Even if Windows 7 is bad millions of people will buy it based on the brandname and commercials alone. Microsoft has all the computer manufactors and retailers in their pockets- Windows 7 will be pre-installed on all new machines. It’s already a gold mine. The demand is there, the interest is there, no matter how many problems people have with upgrading from Vista to Windows 7.
PC tech junkie have run benchmarks and decreed that Windows 7 is vastly superior to Windows Vista and Windows XP, and runs more smooth. However, keep in mind the initial reviews of Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows Infinity Squared all were gushing from these same techies for the first week.
Check out the Windows 7 reviews: they are written by snarky computer geeks that proclaim that it passes all the speed tests. They remind me of Captain Software II from Tashman Technologies.
It’s like getting a new dress.
Guess what? Windows 7 is not bad. In fact, it’s perfect! Microsoft finally got it right! Guess what, though? I’m done! I want a refund for all the stress they gave me for buying their products in the past.
