Who won the debate between McCain and Obama?
McCain/Obama fight to time limit draw

by Political Pro-Wrestling (PPW) DailySkew Editor Damian Hospital
The first ever debate match in front of the world between “Nature Boy” John McCain and The Rock Obama ended with a time-limit draw.
Obama and McCain both started off slow, feeling each other out. Obama definitely had his game face on, and although he was stuttering and didn’t act relaxed, he landed the first blow with a cheap uppercut.
Referee Jim Lehrer had to force both wrestlers to actually grapple early on, as both combatants refused to answer the direct question if they support bailouts. (This type of style is typical in PPW sports entertainment matches, as both debaters want to conserve energy early and finish strong. Obviously, European-style debates are much more direct and fast paced, as both combatants have to sit in front of each other at a table and fight for a few hours straight without “taking turns”.)
Both also refused to answer Lehrer’s question about what will be cut from their budget since they will have less money to work with due to the bailout. Both were too politically savvy to fall for that.

But I digress…both wrestlers stuck to their guns and their campaign trail messages. As you know, they have been touring the nation for a while now, and both used the same catch phrases and pitched the same party-line philosophies in last night’s match. This is not a complaint, since I know millions of Americans have not been following the daily events like I have. Both platforms were clear, which was their goal.
Things started to get cooking when McCain put Obama on the defensive about earmarks and pork barrel spending. Each have a different tax plan, and while Obama calls himself the “People’s Champion” and accuses McCain of being the “Corporate Champion”, McCain may have turned the tables a bit. He showed that Obama’s record doesn’t match his campaign trail words, and ultimately Obama’s plan will require a lot of spending and a big government.
Since McCain had more offense, it’s easy to see why some talking heads have declared him the winner; but they are wrong. Obama, although not focused and tended to wander and stutter a lot, is still a populist. And the People don’t want the government to spend $10 billion dollars a month on the Iraq War. The People don’t want a never-ending war.
So although Obama never really landed the smackdown on McCain, he still held his own by wearing him down. Sometimes during the debate, I saw Obama as John Kerry and McCain as George W. Bush. In other words, this was no dream match, just more of the same Republican vs Democratic matches that we have all been accustomed to.
The climax of the match focused on Iran and Russia, where McCain pitched himself as a tough commander-in-chief who will not sit down and speak with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, while Obama was sitting on the fence on the issue, and splitting hairs- a la John Kerry.
McCain’s highspot came when he was able to quickly and efficiently describe the Russian and Eurpoean country names and world leaders whom he actually met to show how experienced he is with foreign policy. These were difficult names, but McCain simply ran circles around Obama when it comes to actual experience with foreign powers.
Generally, Obama’s foreign policy plans and vision are far reaching, although they are a bit naive (as most liberals are, sorry). In terms of his oratory skills, it is clear that he is much better reading the script. In other words, The Rock is overrated.
That being said, the average voter still sees McCain as an old conservative.
So after 90-minutes, it was clear to me that neither came out on top. After the bell rang, the judges announced the split decision. This weekend, many commentators and journalists will continue to fact-check, take polls, analyze “style” and “substance”, but those will all be retcons. You see, accuracy and style don’t matter- only impressions matter. And neither wrestler lost last night. Although McCain was more dominant and Obama felt he had to say “John’s right” many times as most liberal debaters like to do, McCain still didn’t land a true knockout finisher. If you were going to vote for Obama for President, you still will. If you were going to vote for McCain for President, you still will. If you were undecided, like I am, you still will wait it out.
And that’s bad news for McCain. The Nature Boy needed a Ronald Reagan squash match against Jimmy Carter to gain in the polls. The Nature Boy has been trailing in the polls for a couple of weeks now, and I doubt he will even the score after a 90-minute match where there was no clear-cut winner, regardless of what the DrudgeReport poll says.
By the way, “I have a bracelet too“.
With Sarah Palin expected to get destroyed by John Biden Thursday, the “Straight Talk Express” is in danger of being derailed.

Personally I was disappointed by both parties. The debate was boring. Same topics as old presidential debates of yore.
Yawn.
Still voting for Obama though.
Republicans still in power.
Still unemployed.
W. laid you off, too?
I hate W. I think the country needs someone we can feel good about.
Once Obama wins, I think the stock mareket will come back, and home prices will go up. People are depressed of the current regime. we need a new voice to help us regain our respect. And we need change.
Obama will make everyone feel better, and everything’s going to be great with him.
It will all come down to Ohio…whoever gets Ohio will win this election.
According to the projections, most states will vote based on their history of Red or Blue.
Ohio is the battleground state- all other states have been decided, including McCain winning Florida.
Whoever runs the better and clever Ohio campaign wins the election.
G W laid me off because of him giving tax breaks to big oil, funding an immoral war, etc.
