Hurricane Ike Projected Path Texas

Last week, I had read a history of the 1900 Galveston Hurricane.
It was truly a horrific event in American History. You may think the damage by Hurricane Andrew or Hurricane Katrina was bad, but check out this 1900 Galveston Hurricane site for some details and pictures of our nation’s past.
Anyway, the conclusion of the Galveston story was that the survivors rebuilt the town, added a 15-foot sea wall over time, had community spirit, pride, and generations stood ready to face the hell again.
I spoke with a friend in Texas today, and he was overwhelmed by the MEDIA’s state of panic, especially since “they” said that the water surge was expected to be 20 feet high. The evacuations made traffic unbearable.
Let’s hope no lives are lost this time.
