Obama Terrorist New Yorker Magazine Cover
Another controversial magazine cover will be released July 21st- this time The New Yorker will release a "Politics of Fear" story, with a Barack and Michelle Obama terrorist cover, which satirizes right-wing fears that have been pitched by some extreme conservatives.
People are already protesting the satire, because the cover is being taken out of context already on message boards.
Since I notice some of DailySkew readers don't get parody or satire, let me explain The New Yorker's cover:
Many right-wing Christian GOP Rush Limbaugh-listening extremists truly believe that the Obamas are black militants, Muslim, and un-American. Heck, even Hillary Clinton and her followers believed it, or at least forwarded e-mail spam saying as much. So the picture you see on the cover of The New Yorker does not mean that the editors believe that Obama is a terrorist spy; they are reflecting the character assassin jobs that some right wingers have been selling all year.
Got it?
Good.
Because THAT BEING SAID,
The New Yorker just wants to increase sales.
It's all about pleasing advertisers, folks.

Hard to argue with facts and reality folks, this is what Obama and his pathetic wife are all about.
It seems most people to comment on this cover - the Obama campaign included - are too stupid to understand satire.
When a Muslim, Barack Hussein Obama's father, has a child, it is born a Muslim.
Damian is right- The New Yorker has been getting zero buzz and doesn't sell anymore. This is just like that Golf Magazine Cover with the noose- it's a way to generate sales for a print magazine and hits for their internet website.
Of course, the IRONY of the situation is that the message of the article is the opposite of the cover; it's classic satire, something that 90% of the general public doesn't understand!
If The National Review or Weekly Standard had published this, Pelosi and Reid would be calling for hearings.
What's so different about this than every other political cartoon ever made?
I would not call this racism. HOWEVER this is completely unacceptable and I abhor this cover and the decision makers at the New Yorker. For a reputable publication to put this ridiculous and disgusting cartoon on it is cover deplorable. They know they are feeding into people?s fears. Additionally, to add Mr. Obama's wife to cover is incredulous. One thing this cover will do is have their subscriptions substantially reduced rapidly especially if they do not understand the definition of satire. If they wanted to make a point they could have put the picture on the inside next to the article to show how ridiculous it is. But they chose to put it on the cover and most people who do not subscribe to the New Yorker will only see the cover. One more thing, satire based on TRUTH and there is absolutely no truth or any of this. It does not matter if you are a republican or a democrat the facts are the facts and even the McCcain camp agrees this is not satire and is completely inappropriate. When this hits the media most people with the exception of the extreme republicans, not all of them, only the extreme ones will be turned off by it also. These are fear tactics which will not work. Don't think for one minute that the Obama camp did not know in advance about this cover. In case you haven't noticed, a new form of Right bashing is being orchestrated by the vast Left wing conspiracy, somewhat akin to the old question, "So, tell me, when did you stop beating your wife?" In this cover the Left lampoons what it wants everyone to believe the Right is thinking about Obama, even if it is not representative of mainstream Right wing thought. Then it becomes a news item and Obama can play up the role of victim (this has been an ongoing theme), and the Right comes off as being mean-spirited and bigoted and not worthy of a vote.
Hmmm...let's see... It's well documented that the Obamas have long established associations w/ some of the most anti-American, radical left-wings pigs in the US. Oh, and Barack is in favor of a policy of appeasing the Iranian mullahs hell-bent on the physical destruction of Western Civilization. Coincidence?

I don't know why people are upset by this. This couple is known by the company they has kept, and the people overseas cheering for them.
This is simply brilliant political pop art. This is important historical stuff. Some people will be shocked by it, some will love it, others will abhor it. It will be discussed and dissected. Unfortunately for the modern GOP, it paints a very accurate and ugly picture of what the republican party has become.
It's a good thing only pretentious college professors and pseudo-intellectuals pay attention to The New Yorker or this could be a real problem...OOOPS. Now that Politco.Com covered it, it will be all over CNN, FOX, MSNBC, and every radio station now.
Just for the record, Obama is the anti-Christ. And you can write that down.
If you are upset or bothered about this satire then you also hate America and are a pile of dog excrement. Oh, and you likely hate white people or suffer from white guilt, one or the other.
