Should the US adopt surgical masks?

It’s a common scene in Asian countries. I have personally experienced it when I traveled to Hong Kong and Manila: people where surgical masks to protect themselves from pollution, bacteria, or disease.

South Florida has been hit with smoke from the Everglades. These masks sure come in handy so you can breathe better. I’m getting numerous reports from people all around the area that are choking.

Unfortunately, these masks have a negative stigma in the United States:

  • People think you must be suffering from a contagious disease.
  • People may think you look dirty and want to stay away from you.
  • It looks WEIRD.
  • Are you a snob?

    I dont know.
But the US is likely to adopt the scooter as their main mode of transportation, like those people in that picture if the price of gas continues to escalate at the rate that it has.

R.A.W. interesting thought, I wouldn’t mind a scooter-based society as long we could come up with a way to solve the pollution they give off.

Most Asian countries have local economies, meaning you can walk to walk or use a scooter to get to work.

One major problem with the U.S. is the commute distances force us to use cars.

I’m sure the guy wo invented the so-called “IT”- the Segway, wanted to solve this, but they are just not practical enough for an average American.

I have been looking at some bicycle motor kits online.

they can go up to 40 something mph, and cost about 2 dollars to fill up.

    interesting stuff.

This time around I realized that the raccoon was free from suffering now. It's a shame its life had to end like that- it was blameless; humans built roads in the middle of his ancestor's forest. Progress and technology broke that raccoon's legs and took his life tonight. But now the suffering has ended for it. I mourned the raccoon and the way […]
