Today’s ridiculous controversy is that Miley Cyrus, better known as her role as Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel posed in a revealing photo shoot with Vanity Fair.
She expressed her regret, and even hinted that Vanity Fair exploited her.
The FINE PRINT is that she and her parents signed off and approved of the photos after they were taken.
It seems like Disney is getting cold feet about this 15-year old appearing in the mag.
Meanwhile, both Cyrus, Vanity Fair, and Disney’s show are getting a LOT of AIRTIME right now, as this is the Story of the Day. ™ Disney wants the best of both words, because they have been exploiting her her looks since Day 1, appealing to guys that like to see a young girl dressed like legal women.
Sounds LaME, to me.

Thanks for the post on Miley Cyrus…this “scandal” was all over AOL this morning, but when I went looking this evening Miley had been replaced by Amy Winehouse looking waaaay hideous. I took my little girls to see Hannah/Miley at the Prudential Center just after Christmas. It was a great show, and I had hopes that she’d “stay wholesome,” but I’m afraid she’s goin’ to Britneyland.
Not only did she & her parents sign off on the photos…it’s not too late. They could give Vanity Fair their money back and pull the photos, replace them with a nice sweater set and a skirt down to her ankles. Or not.

I’d like to amplify one point: her father is Billy Ray Cyrus, who many years ago had the huge hit, “Achy, Breaky Heart.” This was one of those songs that guys like me would turn off as soon it would come on the radio … the kind of song and singer that made high school gals swoon.
Anyway — this man has been in the business for YEARS. His daughter might be a naive 15 year old, but him?!? Give me a break. He sold a lot of records wearing tight denim blue jeans!
Billy Ray KNOWS that sex sells. He knows what a Vanity Fair photo shoot means … he’s old enough to remember the Demi Moore spread, or the Madonna photos … all controversial, and all featured in Vanity Fair.
This was a calculation — no question. This was a career move. The father knew what he was doing.
He should be ashamed — I’m sure his daughter TRUSTS him and his opinion. What a jerk.
It’s a shame John Q. Public can’t see that the MEDIA is a tool that companies or people use to increase sales for advertising revenue.
ANY publicity is good publicity..unless you’re someone like Roger Clemens at this point in his career.
OMG we saw a 15 year old girls naked back! Like we would never see that at the beach or even a high school prom. Get real.
But it wasn’t B.R. Cyrus who talked “innocent” Miley Ray Cyrus into doing the “naughty” shoot. It was that infamous Discordian Guru Reverend Loveshade who led Hannah Montana into his tongue-in-cheek joke religious cult.
A few photos and BANG! It’s all over Prudesville: “Preteen Idol gets naked as Teen Sex Goddess!”
So a Disney Princess bared her back and let Daddy handle her naked thigh? So a Disney Princess transformed into a Discordian American Princess? She’s 15 for God’s sake, not 5. Although if she was 5, I guess we’d just think it was cute.
