Sid Fernandez (El Sid) Named in Steroids Scandal
EL SID = STEROIDS
This is NOT a parody.
Although it should be.
The New York Daily News reported that:
Perhaps the most notable new name to emerge from the affidavit is former Mets pitcher Sid Fernandez, who wrote a $3,500 check to Radomski in 2005, almost eight years after the lefty’s last appearance in a major league game. The affidavit doesn’t say what Fernandez got for his money.
El Sid was one of my favorite New York Mets pitchers back in the day. He was known for battling weight issues, having no stamina, and being an immature spoiled brat- but also for being an excellent pitcher who you couldn’t help but root for and love. For his name to be forever “keyword linked” to steroids truly shows the grim reality we live in.
For the record, there is no evidence Sid Fernandez used steroids while he was playing. One can speculate why El Sid would buy ANYTHING from a drug dealer 8 years after he retired. I recall El Sid trying to make a comeback around that time, and pitched in a New York Yankees minor league, but wound up breaking his leg or something on a line-drive. It just shows you how desperate guys can get to be back in “the game”, no whatever what “the game” is…and he’s no different than you or I, truthfully.

NO WAY! IF EL-SID WROTE A CHECK TO
THE STEROID DR. IT MUST HAVE BEEN
FOR HEALTH RELATED FACTS. WHEN HE
TRIED TO MAKE A COME BACK HE WAS
STILL HEAVY, JUST LIKE HE WAS IN
THE 1980′S! HE WOULD HAVE LOOKED
LIKED SUPERMAN IF HE TOOK STEROIDS!
I’m proud of El Sid’s accomplishments in baseball, and wish him nothing but the best. I pray his HGH treatments go well, and we see him back on the mound soon!
Viva El Sid!
Robert Bailey recalls times with Sid in Enchanted Lakes on 589 Iana St. Kailua,HI. My brother, George Bailey, was Sid’s team-mate in the Pony League. I watched Sid pitch and hit homeruns every Saturday at Kailua MS baseball park. He was big and powerful then and nothing has changed. So take your steroid theory and shove it!
We love El Sid!
Unfortunately, he bought something in 2005 from that steroids doctor.
I’d certainly give El Sid the benefit of the doubt, but the New York Post and other MEDIA outlets won’t.
Heck, we’ve consistently defended Barry Bonds here, and he’s persona non grata in MEDIA circles.
The MEDIA has made baseball players (while ignoring other sports) guilty of steroid use without evidence or trial, not us. The Skew was merely pointing out one more example of this.
I guess some people can’t read past the headlines.
El Sid = Steroids was too much for Sherry.
