Get well, Simon
Perhaps years from now, you will be reading this with interest. I just came back from Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to see you. I gave you a black car that makes noises. You watched as Tony and I played Street Fighter II. I don’t know how much you will remember from your time there, but I can vouch that it was a very traumatic experience for you. I do know that your parents supported you, cared for you, and loved you.
When I was six years old, I spent Christmas Eve in King County Hospital in New York. I had such a sharp pain in my stomach, and I went there in the middle of the night. The doctors kept giving me needles, pricked the tip of my fingers to draw blood, I had an x-ray, and a lot of embarrassing procedures as well. Well, after everything was said and done, the doctors never could found out what was wrong with my stomach. It was a horrible experience, but I had the presence, love, and support of my family there. So did you.
Love,
Damian
